Abraham was the founder of Judaism. Did you know that Abraham's original name was Abram and then God changed it to Abraham? He was the founder in the year 3760 B.C.E.

It began in the Middle East, in areas similar to where Christianity began, however Judaism started much longer ago than Christianity. It is practiced all over the world.

  • They can have healthy/ritually slaughtered beef,and bird,meat separated from their dairy.
  • wine or grape juice made under Jewish supervision,and soft cheese.
  • They pray to their God .3 times a day (morning,afternoons,and evenings)
  • Some Jews go to synagogue three times a day, many go on Friday evenings and many also on Saturday mornings (Sabbath).

what are the religious festivals?



Rosh Hashanah is celebrated in September and is the beginning of the Jewish calendar.

Yom Kippur is a day set aside for fasting and repenting from sins,and is celebrated 10 days after Rosh Hashanah.


Three major festivals:
Pessach (Passover) in spring celebrating the liberation and exodus from slavery in Egypt.
Shavu'ot (Pentecost) 50 days after Pessach celebrating the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai.
Sukkot (Festival of Tabernacles) in October celebrating the harvest and remembering how God protected the Jewish people in the desert.

The star of david- It is the best known symbol of the Jewish faith.

The Menorah- The menorah (seven branched lamp) is the oldest symbol of the Jewish faith
